Although I think it’s important to try to make friends with locals in order to more easily settle in to a new country, there is something comforting in finding fellow expats. It’s nice to see that you’re not the only one fascinated or amused by certain elements of your adopted home. I’ve found the blogs of quite a few here in the Netherlands — although mostly in Amsterdam, it sometimes seems — and wanted to share them, since everyone takes something different out of their experiences.
