G’s off to Germany today, so I’m on my own for dinner. A Dutch Flickr contact has been a dining influence for me recently, with her lovely food photos. First it was her variation of shoarma and tonight it was a version of gado-gado. I didn’t bother with the salad part and just went with the cabbage, green beans, cauliflower and bean sprouts (with a bit of red pepper thrown in), mixed with some noodles, the saté sauce and topped with some fried onion bits. I boiled an egg to go with it, but forgot to add it in! I’ve never been a big fan of peanut sauces, but I liked it with this dish. I’ll be having the rest of it for dinner tomorrow. I’ll definitely be suggesting it for future dinners.
Appropriately enough, since I was having an Indonesian-inspired dinner, today as I was taking Pippo out, a woman who works at the Indonesian restaurant across the street stopped us to ask what kind of dog Pippo is and to comment on how handsome he is. Another fan. 😉
CNN International was re-airing last night’s presidential debate — which I forgot to record last night — so that’s what I watched while dining. Perhaps not the best idea for digestion, but I’m still glad I saw it.
