There are still a few trees around town that haven’t completely given up their color. I think they’re show-offs who want all the attention for themselves. ๐
It was an inspiring day to be out and about, despite the fog and cold, and the Oudegracht (old canal) is always a source of pleasure for me, the way it curves and reflects. It always seems to fit the mood.
How absolutely beautiful. And I cannot believe that I live in such a beautiful country.
On this day of Thanksgiving, there are many things to be grateful for The fact that the fog has lifted and that we have images like these, well it just makes it a good day to be in the Netherlands celebrating an American holiday.
Thank you, Alison.
Don’t forget that the pilgrims stopped for a while here in the Netherlands, so there’s a very close connection between the American holiday and our adopted homeland. I’m thankful for the opportunity to live here and experience the beauty of it all, along with all of the history.
I think it’s hard to find a time when they don’t look good. They look wonderful in the spring; they look wonderful in autumn; and they even look beautiful in winter, at least when there’s snow on the trees and along the wharves. Must be nice to be so pretty! ๐
I see one stubborn, hardy, I’m-holding-on-to-my-leaves tree at the center. ๐

This is beautiful! I can picture a photo like this hanging on my wall. Well done!
Thanks!
Really great pic! :))
Thank you!
Lovely!! I feel a bit nostalgic of NL now… snif… ๐
Iยดve included this shot in my post – see here: http://fromargentina2holland.blogspot.com/2011/11/meanwhile-on-other-side-of-atlantic.html
It’s probably better to feel nostalgic in Argentina than to suffer through the cold and fog in NL. ๐
Thanks for including my photos. You picked three of my recent favorites.
A wonderful shot. So peaceful, the reflections. For once, autumn looks pleasantly melancholy, instead of just mournful!

Happy Thanksgiving, and eet smakelijk!
I always thought the canals in Utrecht looked very nice but they look even better with all the autumn leaves. Very nice photo.
